This message is written by Dave The writings of an unknown stranger we do not know.

Hello,

I’ve known Youn-hee and Dave for as long as they know each-other, and I’d like to tell you a little story. It won’t take much of your time, and I think you might enjoy it. Thanks for your time, and my apologies for hijacking Youn-hee and Dave’s blog like this.

The day these two creatures met, a little over 8 months ago now, was a somewhat cold winter-ish day. Without snow, of course. It’s Holland we’re talking about here. It looked dark outside, when Dave told me about this girl that found him. We’ve talked often about this girl since then, so she quickly became known as Youn-hee to me, a smart, open girl with a pretty smile. That’s what Dave said, at least. I didn’t see Youn-hee until a while later, when she bought a webcam so she could chat more with Dave, and they could actually see each other talk.

I might sound like a Mr. Know-it-all, but I’ve seen all this coming, really. The way Dave spoke of Youn-hee, the way he looked forward to meeting her every day again. Dave’s family saw it coming, too. The only two people on this planet that didn’t see it coming were Youn-hee and Dave. Typical..

Dave spoke with me more and more of Youn-hee, showing me photos, talking about subjects he talked about with Youn-hee. It seemed that with every word he spoke of her, he grew more excited.

And so was Youn-hee. Every time I saw her, her smiles seemed to be just a bit bigger. She told me about Dave, and I could feel her excitement. It was really cute, how the two of them managed to be completely oblivious to their own destination.

When I went to South Korea with Dave, in January of 2008, he was exited and confused, scared and happy. All at the same time. We talked for hours in the airplane, but as every hour passed he grew more quiet. I could see in his eyes that he was afraid of what was to come. He’s going back to Korea again, and we both still remembered oh-so well how we left Korea last time.

When we set foot on korean soil once again, we spoke little to each other. Occupied with the seemingly endless waiting for our luggage, Dave constantly stole glances of the large glass wall behind us. Behind there, lies Korea. Behind there, awaits an interesting yet unknown future. Behind there, awaits Youn-hee. I imagined she would be feeling the same things as Dave did. I imagined her looking at the same glass wall, wondering what lies beyond that.

Part two coming soon..
